BRIDGES and STATIONARY PROTHESIS:

  These are to fill in spaces due to the lose of one or more teeth. They are treatment types based on the premise of getting support from neighbouring teeth. When there has been the loss of a tooth or teeth and there is a tooth on either side of the open space, replacement teeth can be attached to two crowns constructed for the two teeth on either side of the open space. There are two kinds: Stationary bridges can only be removed by a specialist. Mobile bridges can be removed by the individual during cleaning (not currently used on a wide-spread basis.)

Brücke  Brücken und festsitzende Zahnersaetze überbrücken eine entstandene Lücke zwischen zwei oder mehr beschliffenen Zähnen (Pfeilerzähne) und werden vom Restgebiss (Ankerzahn) gestützt. Festsitzender Zahnersatz kann nur von einem Facharzt ausgenommen werden; Brücke kann der Patient zur Reinigung selber herausnehmen. (Brücken werden derzeit nicht oft angewandt.)
