Every musician wants to be famous. But this time an amateur dentist-musician from Moda, Istanbul was lucky. Dr.Tufan Tezcan went to Dublin last Friday after winning the pre-elections of CASTLEBAR SONG CONTEST among 50 Turkish competitors.

CastleBar is a charming and quiet town in Ireland. Pilots can only see it from the above, but the music competitions that take place in CastleBar has become one of the most important competitions in the world.
Song writing competitions take place every year. Tufan Tezcan began his music life and guitar playing by listening to the Beatles in 1963. He has never left it. However, he has continued with the education and and completed his course at the Institution of Dentistry, Nişantaşı in 1976.
Tufan says “I might be able to surprise eveybody in Ireland even though music is not my bread winner and it is something that I would never put aside”.
Tufan Tezcan is going to Dublin as a song writer and composer. Our famous jazz guitarist Neşat Ruacan, who is also a dear friend of Tufan, has insisted on him joining this competition and arranged his music. Tufan will sing his song “DUYGULAR” and try to win for Turkey at this competition where Zerrin Özer had won prizes in 1977. Hope he wins!! Good luck Tufan..
